IMAGE Clan to Host a BF3 Server

IMAGE recently announced it will be hosting a BF3 64-slot hardcore server. The server will be hosted in TX by Art of War servers. The intention is to host from a location central to IMAGE membership, which spans coast to coast. IMAGE members will have reserved slots, while regular visitors will have an opportunity to donate if they would like to have one as well. There is a lot of excitement around the launch of BF3, especially since its decision to form a competitive team.

Recruiting members before the official launch is one way it hopes to build a strong team that will be poised to win. The response to the invitation to apply for membership has been terrific. The new recruits are anxious for an opportunity to showcase their skills in hopes of securing a spot on the team. IMAGE is going to participate in the Team Warfare League BF3 Launch tournament in November and is still looking to fill slots with some quality team players.

Asmodiar, one of the senior members of IMAGE, gives potential players an incentive to join on the EA forums by answering some FAQs.

How long has IMAGE been around?

IMAGE has been around since Ultima Online Released in ’97 and broke into the competitive FPS genre by dominating Americas Army 1.

Is there an age requirement?

Eighteen and older. Our age range is 18-49 most falling into the 23-29 group. Exceptions for younger players can be made if you’re not annoying.

Will you have a Server for BF3?

Yes! We have a 64 player server that will be set on HARDCORE and slots will be Reserved for IMAGE members.

Do you have your own VOIP server?

Yes. We use Mumble as we have found it has many advantages over Ventrillo or TeamSpeak for our needs.

What are you skill requirements?

We don’t have a skill level requirement – being a part of IMAGE is more about fitting in with the group on Mumble and having fun.

No Skill requirements?

IMAGE has had a presence in just about every game going back to UO so we are more of a community and anyone can apply to be a part of that community. That said, however, for Battlefield 3 if you want to play on the competitive team we will have tryouts and scheduled practices – you will be added or removed from the competitive clan v clan battles based on your skill in Battlefield 3.

How Do I apply?

Go to http://IMAGEclan.net/forums and create an account and post your app. It will be reviewed quickly and you will be given access to the rest of the forums – or not. After that get in Mumble and start talking to people and playing games with them. If it turns out you’re not a horrible person and people like you…you’re in.

What does your clan tag look like?

[iMG] (for Battlefield) [IMG] For everything else.

Your clan has been around a pretty long time – Is it possible to eventually become a leader?

Well, we don’t really have “ranks” in IMAGE – we have different forum and Mumble privileges…

But yes it is very possible to gain these special privileges – it takes being active on the forums, actively playing games, and fitting in with the group. On top of that you have to show that you have leadership skills either by helping recruit or taking charge in game and leading others on to victory.

You are a US based clan – do you still accept non US members?

Yes – we have several members who are in the Euro and NZ/AUS time zones. This may or may not be an issue depending on your normal online hours.If you are looking for a gaming community to be a part of or have an interest in competitive BF3 team play, IMAGE is a great place to do both. Listen up, ladies. IMAGE clan is gearing up for the release of Battlefield 3. We’ve been playing plenty of Bad Company 2, but the game we’ve all been waiting for is nearly upon us!

I Wanted to give you the skinny that Image is up and running on the Free Shard In Por Ylem for Ultima Online. We Currently have 8 active members playing UO who are working hard to represent IMAGE the best we can. The server has only been up for 2.5 weeks and we already have our guild house and 2 hide outs placed around the world. It is interesting times in the lands of Britannia and if you have never step foot on its soil or have been on vacation for many years now is the time to return! The State of the MMO Business

Currently, it seems we are in a state of unrest within the MMO business. Nobody can seem to decide on what makes an MMO good anymore, and what features we need in order for players to get the most enjoyment out of the game. We are faced with new renditions of popular MMO’s that claim they build off of tried and true features, and at the same time establish never before seen content. Most of these claims, however, are nothing but false promises that companies are hoping they can use to market their game.

The video game industry we are faced with today doesn’t seem to know how to proceed to the next step in user experience in terms of MMO game development. Yes there are new games coming out that do in fact exhibit features that do not follow popular MMO mechanics, such as Darkfall Online and Mortal Online. However, these games seem to lack the quality or finesse that the popular MMO’s hold, and thus they do not become popular. Because of this, we have yet to see a significant improvement in games for the MMO genre, and players are left in a realm of distress where they are forced to choose the lesser of two evils instead of playing what they truly want.

The industry will not change it’s trend, however, until the players themselves choose to push this change. As can be seen with quick analysis of the industry, money is what drives the large companies, and large companies are the ones who make MMO games. So, as a request to all gamers that want to see a change or at least an improvement in the industry, I ask that you invest your money in a product that you believe will benefit the industry as a whole, and not just put money in the hands of big business to get a rehash of the same game over and over.

IMAGE Capture the Flag

How this works: Each team has a “Flag” (an IMAGE member wearing a cuprum plate helm – Tindremic and Draconian – These are bright yellow) – Each team starts at their flag location – Each team will be told the location of the other team at the time of starting the match.

To capture the flag a player on the other team has to kill the Flag – Loot the helm and put it on – Then return to their “Flag”

Each flag is located at a Wilderness priest.

In the case that the IMAGE member no longer has the “Flag” and both flags are returned to him at the same time – The IMAGE member has to stand there with both flags for twice the time he didn’t have a flag before the winner is declared

When a Flag is picked up it must immediately be put on by the person who looted it – Making it clear who has the flag – IMAGE Judges will be standing by to make sure this rule is followed.

We’d like to hold this first event on Friday – And need 2 Teams to sign up. Times and Locations will be privately given to the first 2 teams to sign up.

Our initial thoughts on this are for entrance fee to be 50g Per team – Winner take all – If more is willing to be wagered by both sides we will arrange that privately.

Teams can be made of however many members you want so bring the noise.

Side bets on what team will win will also be taken – When 2 teams sign up we will post who they are and betting will then be open.

IMAGE Manhunt – Results

After 5 days of having this event announced – and dozens of people saying they would be there and what a great idea it was – The First IMAGE Manhunt ended up underwhelming – but it was really fun for all involved.

Within the last hour people started complaining that 5g was too expensive to join – and they didn’t want to risk it. Even though every IMAGE member has 100+ gold in their banks – it seems nearly everyone else who plays MO are retar… umm… Less than stellar gamers who don’t know how to earn money.

We were forced to drop the entry fee to 1g per player and in the end we had 14 players sign up – and get in our private vent server set up specifically for this event. Oddly enough none of the major guilds had the chutzpah to enter – unfortunate for them – good for our solo entries.

The event started when everyone in vent were given a series of clues, each one more diabolical than the next, as to where the one being hunted would be located.

“Seek thee out the Black Knight outside the highest tower ”

“The mountain laughs at you”

“The hills have eyes”

“THERE IS A GOD DAMN TOWER ON TOP OF THE CLIFF WITH FACES ON IT YOU SCRUBS”

I can’t be sure, but the last clue might have been a little too sneaky and cryptic. Never the less 4 of the 14 were able to find Vexx and take him out. It was all out madness as a 5 man FFA took place – In the end only 2 lived – one being able to loot the item off Vexx the Hunted and escape on his wisely placed horse.

Congrats to you the Guildless Braxx – Winner of the First IMAGE manhunt – Your noble *cough cowardly escape cough* fighting earned you 14gold for an hour of your time
